Shaheed Fields completed his sunset transition on Friday September 13, 2024 in Medstar Medical Center in Brandywine, Maryland. Shaheed Fields was born on June 14, 1963 to the late Dewood Bridges of Shelby, North Carolina and late Virginia Juanita Lane of Hobgood, North Carolina in Harlem Hospital in Manhattan, New York. A few years later, his mother married the late Milton Lane and they raised him together as a son of their own. Shaheed loved him as a father until the day he was called home. Shaheed attended Alexander Street Elementary School in Newark, New Jersey followed by Irvington Tech where he took up a trade as an Auto Mechanic. Shaheed, after graduation joined the US Air Force, where he was an Air Force Mechanic. He served 4 years with the Air Force and was released with an honorable discharge. Years later he re-entered the military by joining the DC Air National Guard where he retired as a Master Sergeant.
Shaheed joined the DC police reserve until he became full-time with United States Treasury police department assigned to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. He retired as a Lieutenant with honors in 2022.
