Born on May 22, 1944, in Gastonia, North Carolina, John Robbins was the cherished son of Sonny Jackson and Mary Essie Hadrick-Robbins. A proud graduate of Rocky Mount High School, John later ventured north to New Jersey, where he made his home in Passaic before settling in Newark. There, he built a devoted career with Roadway Trucking Company, retiring after 25 years of steadfast service.
John was a free spirit who lived boldly and lived life on his terms. He had an infectious laugh, a generous heart, and an unwavering dedication to the happiness of his children and grandchildren. Family gatherings were among his favorite moments filled with laughter, lively conversation, and the simple joy of togetherness. Whether cheering at a sporting event or sharing a slice of something sweet, John found delight in life’s every day pleasures.
